istutter center is part of Narrativexample – Speechcare Lda (a private limited company), established in Portugal, NIPC: 515513482. This Privacy Policy will explain how our organization processes the personal data we collect from you.
This Privacy Policy applies to the processing of your personal data of (1) istutter center on its website, located at https://istutter.center/; (2) all products or services provided by us and described on the website, such as istutter’s Desktop application and istutter’s App mobile application (collectively, the “Platform”).
By visiting or otherwise using the Platform, you consent to the collection, use, and disclosure practices of istutter center described in this Privacy Policy, and any additional privacy statements that may be posted on an applicable part of the Platform.
istutter center is an online speech therapy service provider. Our main activities are:
o paid individual online therapy sessions (occasionally, sessions may take in small groups of 3 to 4 people);
o paid online and presential training courses (mostly recorded but also web-streamed);
o creation of specialized speech therapy content – for courses, awareness-raising actions, and our company’s own marketing activities -, which we publish on our website and social media accounts (none of these activities makes use of personal data of our clients).
All personal data is stored exclusively in our internally built Platform.
For video communication purposes (either speech therapy sessions or web streamed training sessions), istutter uses Zoom Video Communications, having introduced the following mandatory internal practices:
o speech therapists are always the hosts of these sessions and only allow the entrance of participants after an identity check established at the “waiting room”;
o in order to record the session (partially or fully), speech therapists must clearly warn the participants ahead of the session and repeat this same procedure when the session starts being recorded. The latter warning, which is thereby recorded, is thus given prior to any processing activity as stipulated by 4(11) of GDPR.
According to Article 4 of the General Data Protection Regulation 2016/ 679, “personal data” means “any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person (‘data subject’); an identifiable natural person is one who can be identified, directly or indirectly, in particular by reference to an identifier such as a name, an identification number, location data, an online identifier or to one or more factors specific to the physical, physiological, genetic, mental, economic, cultural or social identity of that natural person”.
Our company collects the following data: a) information you provide, b) information we collect from you automatically when you visit our website.

Once you have enrolled in our sessions or courses, this information also includes an indication of personal and familiar speech disorders (such as: stuttering, dyslexia and others; their degree of severity; indication of family members who stutter or have other potentially genetic speech impairments) and very generic psychological and physical wellbeing questions (such as: How do you feel? How was your week? What events mostly impacted your daily routines? How many hours did you practice the learned techniques last week?).
When pursuing speech therapy sessions or training, we will ask you additional information to add to your Account, including professional or educational challenges and training details, as well as keywords or internal surveys that best describe you.
Providing additional information is entirely optional, but enables you to better progress in your sessions or trainings, access valuable non-identifiable statistical data or to find helpful ways of interacting with your speech therapists and, potentially, with other people who are also enrolled in our speech therapy sessions or trainings.
